Honeymoon Preparations!

Relax - it's not how it sounds!! We are going camping for our honeymoon in 6 weeks and in preparation we wanted to pitch our tent. It was a wee bit frustrating to start with but once we got started it was ok and at least we know now that we can pitch a tent together without killing each other. The marriage can go ahead!!

Learning

Last night I started a new class. It's beginners sewing and dressmaking and was really interesting. I saw the course, enquired and found they had one place left and now it's mine! Hopefully this will be good to teach me the basics rather than just muddling through myself. My project before the next class in two weeks is to find a pattern I want to make and some fabric. Better get to the shops then!

I found the zip really tricky to do and although this is really pretty fabric I think I would use something else if I was to make this again. It is pretty though and once I had the zip pocket in it was pretty straightforward.

After the relative success of my bag I have chosen my next project which you can see if you follow the link. This is much harder and I had a serious falling out with my sewing machine last night. Maybe I was not in the right frame of mind to have the patience with it but I will manage this too and will upload photos when I am done. I have seen pictures of wallets that other people have made using this pattern and they are all lovely - i hope mine will look as nice!

New hobby

I have a new hobby and this is my first attempt at sewing. I got a pattern and made this cute little bag. I can see it needs some improvement but overall I think it's not bad for a first attempt and I can improve as I go along.

January DIY

Today Lee and I built some shelves! We decided that we had a lot of wasted space in the bottom of our wardrobes and so we have started to make shelves for some extra storage.
